Chenda Cope is multi-disciplinary artist who recently relocated from Philadelphia to western Massachusetts. In addition to playing with several bands she has a solo project that Philadelphia’s City Paper called “sweetly neatly stunning”. She’s also an accomplished visual artist working primarily in sculpture and painting. She also works on diy theatre projects, both set building and performing. She has worked with Ramshackle Enterprises, Der Vorführeffekt Theatre, the Missoula Oblongata and most recently performed and toured with Erin Markey’s A Ride on the Irish Cream. In her recent move to Massachusetts, Chenda is taking the time to slow down and look for connections betweens these different disciplines. Her main areas of inquiry right now include thinking about questions of witness, access, physicality, solitude and collapsing the relationship between the viewer and the maker.
